Authentication Process

Authentication Process

Authentication is the confirmation that information contained in individual Measurement Needs submissions is factual and an accurate summary of the subject matter. Valid authentication documents include:

  • Publicly available Publications,
  • Workshops, or USMS-sponsored Events, such as webinars, with appropriate documentation requirements for scope of discussion and requirements for a broad representation of views in the topic of interest,
  • Published technology Roadmaps.

In most instances, authentication documents discuss and summarize the public domain, documentary references used, specifically referring to key facts and major assertions that are presented in various sections of a case study. Each measurement need case study submission adheres to a specific format.

Upon receipt of a case study by the USMS and posting on the USMS website for comment, it is reviewed as a draft MN in a two tier authentication process. Participation by the entire USMS Online Community in authentication of measurement needs insures transparent validation and produces independently verified, valid, relevant and significant measurement needs.
